Kerry Harrison recommends Blurb books on premium paper.
Carson Zullinger recommends the Philadelphia Museum of Art's Photography Portfolio Competition. Deadline: May 15, 2010.
To clarify: Six individual photos will be chosen by a jury for the PMA Photography Competition 2010 portfolio. That is, the portfolio will only be six prints, each by a different photographer. 25 portfolios will be produced, plus two more which will be added to the PMA's permanent collection. Each photographer selected will receive $1,000 plus a print of their work.
In addition, one Honorable Mention image will be selected by Peter Barberie which will also become part of the museum's permanent collection. It will be sold in a larger edition than the portfolio selections, at a lower price. The photographer will get $500 plus a print of their work.
The museum will exhibit the portfolio of six prints plus the honorable mention print in the fall.
March 18 Meeting: Chad Fahs will be the featured photographer. He recently photographed the carnival celebration in Venice, Italy. Meeting time and place have yet to be determined.
